چکیده
Introduction There is good evidence that all invasively ventilated patients should undergo lung-protective ventilation (LPV) [1,2]. As well as LPV, there is a strong evidence base for other routine interventions in the care of ventilated patients. We performed a one day snapshot audit and survey of attitudes towards invasive ventilation practice in intensive care units across the Severn (Bristol,UK) region.

Home mechanical ventilation in Hong Kong.
Home mechanical ventilation (HMV) is increasingly used to treat chronic respiratory failure. This present study was aimed to examine the trend, the disease categories treated and the outcomes of HMV use in Hong Kong. In the year 2002, all adult respiratory units in Hong Kong were invited to report to a multicentre retrospective survey of HMV use. A total of 249 patients (156 males, mean age 62....

Methods The audit design was a multi centre 2 day snapshot audit undertaken for 2 consecutive 24hr periods in July 2013. Data was collected on a standard proforma by nominated data collectors in each critical care unit. The audit standards were adopted from ARDSNET with a target tidal ventilation of 6ml/kg (based on ideal body weight, calculated from patients ulnar length), peak inspiratory pre...
متن کاملASSISTED VENTILATION Performance of mechanical ventilators at the patient’s home: a multicentre quality control study
Background: Quality control procedures vary considerably among the providers of equipment for home mechanical ventilation (HMV). Methods: A multicentre quality control survey of HMV was performed at the home of 300 patients included in the HMV programmes of four hospitals in Barcelona. It consisted of three steps: (1) the prescribed ventilation settings, the actual settings in the ventilator co...
